Financial terms were not announced.

The 23-year-old appeared in 14 games last season with the Lightning and did not register a point, but tallied 10 penalty minutes. He has skated in 38 career NHL contests -- all with Tampa Bay -- and has tallied one goal and two assists.

The most interesting game of the opening week will feature the NFC champion Bears as they hit the road to take on the NFL’s top team during last year’s regular season, the San Diego Chargers.
