He also notched five rebounds, six assists and three steals in the win, becoming the first player since Michael Jordan in 1991 to reach the 40-point plateau at least three times in his team's first eight games of the season.

Billups averaged 21.5 points, 5.8 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.25 steals per game over four contests as the Nuggets went 3-1 for the week.

The 11-year pro has led Denver to a 5-1 mark since being acquired in an early- season blockbuster trade that saw the Nuggets ship star guard Allen Iverson to Detroit in exchange for Billups and two other players.

Billups logged 26 points in two separate efforts and helped Denver knock off the defending NBA champion Celtics with 18 points and seven assists in a 94-85 triumph in Boston.
