Giddens, the team's first round draft pick out of New Mexico, was the Mountain West Conference co-Player of the Year as a senior when he averaged 16.3 points and a league leading 8.8 rebounds in 33 games played.

The 30th overall pick in the draft, Giddens is the first player from New Mexico to have been drafted by the Celtics.

The most interesting game of the opening week will feature the NFC champion Bears as they hit the road to take on the NFL’s top team during last year’s regular season, the San Diego Chargers.
